How Test Mode Works

1 min. readlast update: 03.03.2025

During integration or the launch of a new brand, the account is set to test mode by default. This allows for data ingestion but prevents:

  • Journeys from being triggered.
  • Campaigns from sending messages to customers.

Messaging Behavior in Test Mode

While the account remains in test mode, messages are either:

  • Sent in test mode (if the provider supports sandbox functionality).
  • Not sent at all, depending on the connected provider.

Provider-Specific Behavior

Provider Test Mode Behavior
SendGrid Messages are sent in sandbox mode (sent to SendGrid but not delivered to an inbox). Visit here for more information.
Amazon SES Messages are not sent (not processed by Amazon SES).
Custom SMTP Server Messages are not sent (not processed by the SMTP server).

Lifting Test Mode

To transition the account out of test mode, contact a member of the Product Support Team for assistance.
